Zydrate comes in a little glass vile

Description

Please excuse the poor scanner quality. This drawing was done on a 18x24 sheet of paper and had to be scanned in 4 different sections (Which is totally obvious because the lines can be seen) The scanner even totally cut off part of the hand that has the fish net glove at the bottom.

Yes I do know and I am extremely aware of the horribly bad mistakes in this piece. I was in a super rush to get the drawing done because I wanted to get the drawing signed by the great Terrance Zdunich who was a special guest at RealmsCon. So I didn't get the proportions right at all. In the end I didn't even have the drawing completed when Mr. Zdunich signed it. I only had a small portion incomplete but it was the last day of the Con and Mr. Zdunich's last scheduled appearance...so I had no choice but to speed up the drawing process even more. Plus I hadn't drawn anything in months and hands is seriously not my strong point. Lets just say I got some major carpal tunnel by the time the con was over.

So I don't know how many people are familiar with the movie 'Repo! The generic opera' It was not a very well known film plus it is a musical. My friend actually heard about it and wanted to see it when the movie debuted so we rented it and watched it. Of course my favorite character in the film is Graverobber and my favorite scene/song was in the alley where all the Zydrate addicts gathered.

Even though I was a fan of the film I never thought that I would ever make a fanart. I didn't think of making a fanart until I found out that Terrance Zdunich was a special guest at the next convention I was planning to attend. Mr. Zdunich is the Co-creator and actor who played Graverobber in the film.

Now this drawing was done mostly in Crayola colored pencils. I only used both Crayola and Prisma colored pencils on the Zydrate bottle and smoke. Of course the border was obviously done in ink. I used a dab of white acrylic paint for the bubbles in the zydrate bottle. I have to say I was happy with the outcome despite all the errors. I was rusty from not drawing anything in a long time. Plus I never really used colored pencils. I have attempted work with colored pencils before years ago but failed horribly and never attempted again. So I was surprised at how the drawing came out considering it was a portrait of all things.

I am still working on drawing people and very much still struggling. Hands have always been one of my biggest weak points and I never like to draw them. I am even worse with feet than I am with hands. Even though my skill level with this type of work is not my best I find myself really wanting to continue making it. I find it oddly satisfying to know that I don't only do anime/cartoon drawings which I tend to lean more towards all my life. It is nice to see myself branch out and make something different.
